(ELY design.2014)The CDM regulation considers similar to the Occupational Safety and Health Act in Malaysia. The OSHA is used to manage the site safety and health issue, to ensure the working environment is under a safe condition. However, CDM are aimed at improving the overall management and co-ordination of health, safety and welfare to reduce the accidents and ill health which may happen within the construction industry.(Anonymous 2014).
On the other hand, the OSHA is incomplete in my opinion when compared to this regulation in term of the scope and duties of the parties as OSHA only listed the duties of client, employee and supplier while this regulation include the designer duties in relation to health and safety. This means that health and safety responsibility is not fully bear by a contractor on a project but all parties involved
This kind of new knowledge you taught me in the future to take more focus on the Safety and Health regulation, and of cause advising my colleagues, employer to take serious in the health and safety. Because in the Malaysia field, worker will not take OSHA as serious as United Kingdom. This has improve my skill of health and safety management under CIOB professional competencies framework
